A Community Garden is a piece of land gardened by a group of community members. There
are many examples of community gardens all around the world. Now more
than ever people have a longing to have real food and a relationship
with where that food comes from. Community gardens have many benefits,
here are a few examples of what these gardens can allow people to do for
their communities:
· Have access to nutritious food
· Know where that food comes from
· Stimulate social interaction
· Educate Youth about healthy diets
· Promote self reliance
· Beautify neighborhoods
· Reduce family food budgets
· Create opportunity for recreation, exercise, therapy, and education
· Provide for intergenerational and cross-cultural education
· Reduce crime while increasing income opportunity and economic development
Right now Sozo Gardeners are working on developing The Appian Street Community Garden in Napoleon, Ohio.
